Nextstar software

NexRemote began shipping in March with select high-end computerized Celestron telescopes, and now ships with several of our telescope series. Contact your Celestron dealer to find out which models include NexRemote. If you already own a compatible Celestron computerized telescope and want to take it to the next level of convenience and enjoyment, NexRemote software can be downloaded for free here note that you will need a RS cable and a serial-to-USB adapter.

Note: Virtually any gamepad can be configured to work with NexRemote. Read the help files for details. This innovative software solves the time-consuming problem of trying to pinpoint the North Celestial Pole.

One of the most important factors in a telescope is its transmission—the percentage of light that reaches the focal plane. ED stands for "extra-low dispersion," which refers to the composition and optical properties of the glass used for the lenses. ED glass is specially formulated and contains rare-earth compounds that greatly reduce a visual defect called chromatic aberration. This telescope control software replaces the hand control and allows the user to remotely control their Celestron computerized telescope from their personal PC or laptop.

EclipSmart solar products feature Solar Safe filter technology providing the ultimate protection from harmful solar radiation, including both IR and UV light, and filters The entire telescope kit is a simple, no-tool assembly and fast SkyAlign alignment procedure will have you ready to observe in minutes. This makes NexStar SLT your perfect companion for impromptu observing sessions and all-night stargazing marathons alike. Your NexStar SLT will reveal details of the lunar surface, Venus and its phases, the polar caps on Mars, Jupiter and its four moons, and Saturn with its rings plainly visible.

It can also be used as a land-based spotting telescope for daytime and wildlife observations. Not sure what to observe?

SkyAlign Technology — Our proprietary SkyAlign alignment procedure makes setting up and using a computerized telescope faster and easier than ever before. Point the telescope at three bright objects in the sky, and the telescope can triangulate its position and locate any other object in the sky automatically. For more information about our SkyAlign technology, visit here.

Power — Go anywhere! The internal battery compartment provides power to the high precision servo motors for rigid low-vibration performance while eliminating cord wrap issues associated with external battery packs. You may also power your telescope with a 12V AC adapter sold separately. The two eyepieces offer different magnifications for low- or high-powered observing.

The star diagonal provides a right-side-up view and a more comfortable viewing angle when looking up at the sky. Celestron is making a change to the finderscope shipped with some Celestron telescopes. In some cases, you may receive a finderscope that is different in appearance than the one pictured on the gift box, manual, Quick Setup Guide, or website. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Rest assured that the finders are identical in performance and features.

The main difference is the location of the battery compartment and, therefore, the battery installation instructions. If your red dot finderscope looks like the unit pictured here, you can ignore this message. If you received a red dot finderscope that looks like the unit pictured here, follow the instructions below to replace the battery: 1.

The battery compartment on this finderscope is located on top of the unit. Use a Philips-head screwdriver to loosen the screw holding the battery door closed.

The screw is captured and will not fall out when you open the battery door. Lift the battery door open to expose the CR button battery. With your fingernail on either side of the battery, pry the battery up and out of the battery compartment. Press the battery down to snap it into the plastic battery clips on the opposite side of the battery. Close the battery door and tighten the Phillips-head screw to secure the door in place.

This includes the creation of a virtual serial port RS port that other astronomy software can access just like the serial port on the real hand control. It allows the use of a wireless game pad to control the scope so that you are not tethered to the PC when using NexRemote. And the program talks! The prompts that appear on the LCD panel on the hand control are spoken so that you can actually use the scope without looking at the PC screen. Additionally, when new firmware versions are available for the hand control, NexRemote implements those new versions, even on scopes without an upgradeable hand control.
